IGNITE 2024:

Democracy through a Feminist/Gender Lens

Hotel Santa Fe, Santa Fe, NM from December 4 - 6, 2024

Building upon the success and lessons of IGNITE 2022, the Impact Driven Philanthropy Collaborative (IDPC) hosted IGNITE 2024 to attract and inspire donors to move money to movements led by and for women to move our country and world forward, not backward.

Women’s donor networks in philanthropy and allied organizations collaborated to produce a single event that brought donors into relationships with feminist movements and other donors who shared their interests.

Collectively, IGNITE 2024 moved $750,000 to a curated set of high-impact movement funds. These curated movement funds resource a thriving multiracial democracy at the intersections of gender, reproductive, trans, racial, and economic justice. By utilizing participatory grantmaking and trust-based philanthropy practices, these organizations have deep “roots, reach, and relationships” in impacted communities.

IGNITE 2022:

Moving Money to Movements

The Saguaro Hotel, Palm Beach, CA from November 29 – December 2, 2022

IGNITE 2022 was the first experiment to test a new type of event in the donor education and organizing ecosystem. What if multiple networks came together to produce a single event? What if we could bring donors and movement leaders into deeper relationships over days as part of our event design? What if we guaranteed that money would move to the movement funds as part of our event design?

Donors from across the country answered the call to explore how they could deploy their financial capital to resource a thriving, multiracial democracy. Focusing on frontline movement organizations working at the intersections of gender and reproductive justice, racial justice, and climate justice, IGNITE 2022’s collective action resulted in $789,450 of new capital supporting eight 501c3 pooled funds and intermediaries.

Knowing that aligned giving is often a missed opportunity, IGNITE 2022 partnered with JustFund, Inc which hosted an add-on to our event and shared three 501c4 options as an experiment to see how donors’ behavior might be impacted by learning about political advocacy.
